Finding a quick gluten-free breakfast or snack isn't always easy, especially if you want something that's portable enough to toss in a backpack or eat on the go. That's exactly why I decided to give Nature's Bakery Gluten-Free Fig Bars a try. I wanted something I could grab on busy mornings, pack for a theme park day, or keep in the car for when hunger strikes.

I've purchased these bars several times now, and in this review we'll go over everything you need to know, including the taste, texture, ingredients, nutrition, price, and whether I think they're worth buying.

About Nature's Bakery Gluten-Free Fig Bars:
Nature's Bakery offers a variety of snack bars, but it's important to know that their gluten-free line is separate from their regular fig bars. The regular bars contain wheat, so be sure to double-check the packaging before purchasing.
At Walmart and some other grocery stores, I've actually found the gluten-free bars in the dedicated gluten-free section rather than next to the regular Nature's Bakery products, which makes them a little easier to spot.

The gluten-free varieties currently include:
- Blueberry
- Raspberry
- Strawberry
I've tried all three flavors, but for this review I'll mostly be talking about the Blueberry bars, since they're my favorite.
I've had the best luck finding them at Walmart and Target.
Each box contains 6 individually wrapped twin packs (12 bars total).
At my local Walmart, they cost $5.97. They're definitely a little pricey, but that's pretty common with gluten-free products.

Nutrition & Ingredients:
Nature's Bakery Gluten-Free Fig Bars are made primarily with brown rice flour and include a blend of ancient grains along with real fruit filling.

They are:
- Certified Gluten-Free
- Plant-Based
- Vegan
- Dairy-Free
- Non-GMO
One serving is one twin pack (2 bars) and contains:
- 210 calories
- 39g carbohydrates
- 3g fiber
They're definitely not low-carb or keto-friendly, but that's not really what these bars are trying to be. They're designed more as a convenient snack or quick source of energy.

Taste Test:
The first thing I noticed was the size. These bars are much larger and thicker than a traditional Fig Newton or most other fig bars I've tried. Each twin pack contains two generously sized bars that individually are about the size of my palm.

The outside has a soft, cookie-like texture that's fairly thick, while the inside is packed with a generous amount of fruit filling.
Texture-wise, they're soft, moist, and satisfying without being overly dense. There is a slight graininess from the gluten-free flour blend, but it's subtle enough that I don't find it off-putting.

As for the flavor, I actually taste the fig more than the fruit listed on the package. The blueberry comes through, but it's fairly mild and blends into the traditional fig flavor. The bars are pleasantly sweet without being overwhelming, although I do notice a very slight artificial fruit flavor in the background.
Pros & Cons:
Pros:
- Convenient and portable
- Individually wrapped for easy grab-and-go snacking
- Soft, moist texture
- Filling enough for a quick breakfast or snack
- Certified gluten-free and vegan
- Easy to find at Walmart and Target
Cons:
- Higher in sugar than many snack bars
- Only three gluten-free flavors are currently available
- Easy to accidentally grab the regular (non-gluten-free) version if you're not paying attention
- A little pricey compared to traditional snack bars
FAQs:
- Are Nature's Bakery Gluten-Free Fig Bars actually gluten-free? Yes! The gluten-free line is certified gluten-free. Just be sure you're purchasing the gluten-free version, as the regular Nature's Bakery Fig Bars do contain wheat.
- Are they vegan? Yes, they're completely vegan and plant-based.
- Do they make a good breakfast? They can be a great option for busy mornings, especially if you're rushing out the door. Personally, I think they make an even better snack, or a quick breakfast when paired with something higher in protein like Greek yogurt or a protein shake.
- Where can you buy them? I've found them at Walmart and Target, but they're also available at many major grocery stores, Costco, Amazon, and other natural food retailers.
I think Nature's Bakery Gluten-Free Fig Bars are best suited for anyone looking for a quick, portable gluten-free breakfast or snack. They're easy to throw into a backpack, lunchbox, or theme park bag, and they're filling enough to keep you going between meals.
I've bought these bars several times over the years and will definitely continue to keep a box in my pantry. My favorite flavor is the Blueberry, although all three varieties are worth trying to see which one you like best.
Overall, I would happily recommend these to anyone looking for a soft, convenient gluten-free snack that's easy to take just about anywhere. While they're a little more expensive than traditional snack bars, I think the convenience and taste make them well worth keeping on hand.
