Taste Test
The first thing I noticed about these cookies is that they're a little thinner than the traditional fudge-striped cookies I remember.
The texture is also slightly different than I remember, although it's been years since I've had a standard fudge-striped cookie, so keep that in mind.
Rather than having that rich, buttery shortbread texture, these are closer to a digestive biscuit. They're light and crispy with a slightly crumbly texture.
The cookies are about the same size in width as the traditional version, and each one has a pretty good amount of chocolate. There's a layer of chocolate coating on the bottom and chocolate fudge stripes across the top.
The cookie itself is sweet without being overly sweet, and the strongest flavor I noticed was vanilla.
The fudge coating is really nice, too. It's soft with a slight dark chocolate flavor that pairs really well with the sweeter cookie.
They are a little crumbly and tend to fall apart slightly when you bite into them, but I didn't find that particularly bothersome.
While the texture is different from what I remember traditional fudge-striped cookies tasting like, I still really enjoyed them. They're crispy and light rather than buttery and rich, and I actually think that works really well with the chocolate coating.
