While EPCOT has some incredible attractions, I honestly think some of the best experiences in the park happen between the rides.
EPCOT is one of the few Disney parks where you can spend an entire day simply wandering, snacking, listening to music, and soaking in the atmosphere without ever stepping into a queue. So if you're looking for a slower paced EPCOT day, here are some of my favorite non-ride things to do around the park.

#1: Explore the Pavilions & Details
Around EPCOT's World Showcase you'll find 11 highly detailed country pavilions spread across a 1.2 mile loop around the lagoon. The countries include Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, Japan, America, Morocco, France, the United Kingdom, and Canada.

While each pavilion features shopping and dining, one of my favorite things to do is simply explore the details. Follow the quieter pathways, peek into little courtyards, and take time to notice the architecture, gardens, fountains, and hidden corners that most people rush past.

Some of my favorite spots include the ponds near the China pavilion where you can usually spot baby ducks in the spring, wandering deep into the Morocco pavilion with its winding market-inspired pathways, the peaceful hidden courtyard tucked in the back of the UK pavilion, and the waterfall area near the back of Canada.

#2: Visit the Aquarium
This is probably my absolute favorite thing to do in EPCOT, and something I make time for on every single visit.

The aquarium inside The Seas pavilion is surprisingly massive, and a lot of guests don't realize there are actually two levels to explore. On the lower level you'll find smaller exhibits featuring sea horses, lionfish, eels, manatees, and other sea creatures, along with Turtle Talk with Crush and a small shark-themed children's play area. You can also sometimes catch scuba demonstrations happening in the main tank.

Upstairs is the larger walk-through aquarium area, where fish, sea turtles, stingrays, and small sharks all live together in one enormous tank. There's also a small nursery section that often features baby sea creatures like cuttlefish and tiny sea urchins wearing little Mickey ears, which might honestly be one of the cutest things in all of Disney World.

#3: Browse the Festival Booths
EPCOT hosts several festivals throughout the year, and each one completely changes the atmosphere of the park with themed food booths, entertainment, decor, and activities.

The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival focuses heavily on global food and drinks, with dozens of booths serving small plates and specialty cocktails throughout the park. The EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival is probably my personal favorite, filling the park with massive Disney-themed topiaries, gardens, outdoor kitchens, and beautiful floral displays. The EPCOT International Festival of the Arts adds colorful art booths, chalk murals, live performances, and plenty of Figment merchandise, while the Festival of the Holidays brings holiday kitchens, decorations, storytellers, and seasonal entertainment to every pavilion.

Even if you're not specifically attending for a festival, they add so much extra life and atmosphere to the park.
#4: Try a Scavenger Hunt or Food Trail
During most EPCOT festivals you'll also find at least one themed scavenger hunt happening around the park. For around $10, you'll receive a map and a set of stickers, then search through the pavilions to find hidden characters or themed items before placing the matching stickers on your map. Once completed, you'll usually receive a small prize or treat.
Some festivals also feature themed food trails, like cookie or cheese crawls, where purchasing specific menu items earns stamps in a festival passport. Completing the trail unlocks a small specialty dessert or exclusive treat at the end.
#5 Drinking Around the World:
This is probably the most famous non-ride activity in EPCOT, and the one you'll see the most groups doing throughout World Showcase. "Drinking Around the World" involves stopping at each country pavilion for an alcoholic beverage, and yes, you will absolutely see entire groups in matching shirts dedicated to the experience.

That said…there are 11 countries, Florida heat, and a lot of alcohol involved. I would highly recommend either sharing drinks or pacing yourself unless you have an incredibly strong alcohol tolerance. There are some genuinely fantastic cocktails, beers, wines, and specialty drinks throughout the park though, which makes it a fun way to experience the different pavilions.
#6: Enjoy the Nighttime Atmosphere
EPCOT becomes especially beautiful at night. A lot of locals visit the park simply to grab dinner, walk around World Showcase, and enjoy a few drinks once the sun goes down.

The lighting around the lagoon, pavilion music, glowing gardens, and reflections on the water completely change the feel of the park after dark. Spaceship Earth is usually lit up with constantly shifting colors and patterns, while the Journey of Water inspired by Moana (see image above) becomes especially pretty at night with glowing water features and lighting effects throughout the walkthrough trail.

Even without rides, EPCOT is one of the easiest Disney parks to spend hours simply wandering and enjoying the atmosphere.
#7: Try Some Interesting Snacks
One of my favorite things to do around EPCOT is wander through the different country pavilions trying unusual snacks and drinks that you don't normally find in the parks. There are so many little hidden gems tucked into the shops and markets throughout World Showcase, especially if you're willing to try something a little different.

Some of my personal favorites are the unique chips and candies in the China pavilion, where you can sometimes find flavors like cucumber or crab, along with the snack shops in Japan which are absolutely packed with fun treats. The Japan pavilion in particular is probably my favorite shopping spot in all of EPCOT, with shelves full of mochi, gummies, flavored Kit Kats, Ramune sodas, and all kinds of imported snacks and candies.
Also you can't forget, Canada's Maple Popcorn!

(Find my full review of the Maple Popcorn here.)
#8: Meet a Character
EPCOT has quite a few character meet-and-greet locations throughout the park, especially around World Showcase and the front of the park near Spaceship Earth. You'll commonly find Mickey and friends in different themed outfits, along with princesses and characters connected to specific countries.

Some of the more unique character spots include Figment near Journey Into Imagination, Alice in Wonderland wandering the UK pavilion gardens, and characters like Mulan, Jasmine, Belle, and Anna & Elsa appearing throughout the World Showcase pavilions. Even if you're not usually big on character meet-and-greets, EPCOT tends to have some really pretty backdrops and slightly calmer interactions compared to some of the other Disney parks.
#9: Have a Meal at a Themed Restaurant
EPCOT has some of the most immersive restaurants anywhere in Disney World, and honestly, several of them are worth visiting for the atmosphere alone.

One of the most popular is San Angel Inn inside the Mexico pavilion, where you dine beneath a perpetual nighttime sky beside the Three Caballeros river ride. Biergarten in the Germany pavilion is another favorite, themed like a festive Bavarian village celebration complete with long communal tables, live music, and dancing. Many of the restaurants throughout World Showcase are designed to feel like tiny escapes into another country, making them a fun experience even beyond the food itself.
#10: Living with the Land
Okay…technically this one is a ride. But it's also kind of an educational greenhouse tour, so I'm counting it.

Living With the Land is one of the calmest and most relaxing attractions in EPCOT, slowly taking guests through Disney's greenhouses and agricultural research areas while showcasing hydroponics, aquaculture, vertical farming, and all kinds of experimental growing techniques. If you're a plant lover, gardener, or just someone who enjoys quieter attractions, this one is absolutely worth doing.
There's also a behind-the-scenes tour called Behind the Seeds where guests can walk through the greenhouses with a guide and learn even more about the plants, fish, and growing systems used inside the pavilion.
#11: Catch a Show
Live entertainment can be found all throughout EPCOT, especially around World Showcase. Depending on the day and season, you'll find everything from cultural performances to live bands and festival concerts happening across the park.
Some of my personal favorites include the Matsuriza drummers in the Japan pavilion, the Mariachi Cobre performers in Mexico, and the different bands that play at the America Gardens Theatre during festivals like Food & Wine and Flower & Garden. You'll also sometimes find smaller performances tucked into the UK and Canada pavilions, making it worth slowing down and seeing what's happening as you wander.
#12: Shop Around the world Showcase
Shopping around World Showcase is honestly an attraction all by itself. Each country pavilion has its own unique stores filled with merchandise, snacks, decor, clothing, and collectibles inspired by that specific country and its Disney connections.

You'll find Beauty and the Beast merchandise in France, Alice in Wonderland items in the UK pavilion, Aladdin-inspired decor in Morocco, Viking-themed gifts in Norway, and countless imported goods throughout the park. My personal favorite shop by far is Mitsukoshi in the Japan pavilion, which feels massive and sells everything from anime merchandise and stationery to snacks, plushes, skincare, kitchenware, and home decor.

#13: Try International Sodas at Club Cool
Club Cool is one of those little EPCOT experiences that somehow turns into a group event every single time.

Located near the front of the park, Club Cool allows guests to sample Coca-Cola products from different countries around the world for free. Some of the flavors are genuinely delicious, while others are…an experience. My favorites are the cucumber Sprite and the Sour Plum Fanta, which somehow tastes weirdly similar to barbecue sauce. Half the fun is watching everyone else react to the flavors.
#14: Kidcot Fun Stops
Kidcot Fun Stops are small activity stations scattered throughout the World Showcase pavilions designed especially for younger guests. At each stop, kids can collect little cards, stickers, or small crafts themed to the country they're visiting.
They aren't always operating in every pavilion, but you can almost always find active stations in places like Canada, Japan, and China. They're a nice way to slow down and give kids something interactive to focus on while exploring World Showcase beyond the rides.
#15: The Friendship Boats
The Friendship Boats slowly travel across World Showcase Lagoon throughout the day, offering a relaxing way to rest your feet while still enjoying the scenery. Most people use them simply as transportation, but honestly they're also a lovely way to slow down and take in the atmosphere of EPCOT from the water.
#16: And Fireworks
EPCOT's nighttime fireworks spectacular is one of the best ways to end a park day. Between the music, lighting around World Showcase Lagoon, and Spaceship Earth glowing in the background, the entire park takes on a completely different atmosphere once the sun goes down.
