Key Ingredients:
- Sourdough Bread: This tangy bread gives the french toast that extra oomph and depth.
- Egg Mixture: A blend of eggs, cream, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and just a pinch of salt, all whisked together to create a sweet custard like coating.

Dietary Swaps:
- Gluten-Free: Use your favorite gluten-free bread. For this recipe I really like Schar's Gluten-Free Sourdough Deli Style Bread.
- Dairy-Free: Swap butter and cream for dairy-free versions such as Earth Balance and coconut milk.

Recipe Variations:
- Make it Tropical. Swap the cream for coconut milk, and top the french toast with coconut cream and pineapple jam.
- Make it Stuffed. Spread cream cheese or nutella between two slices of bread before dipping into the egg mixture.

Tips & Notes:
- Don't overcrowd the pan. No more than 2 slices at a time.
- Let the bread absorb the egg mixture 10-15 seconds per side. Long enough for it to coat the bread and soak in some, but not so long it becomes soggy.
- Wipe the pan between batches. If butter begins to get too brown, use a paper towel to wipe the pan in between batches and start with fresh butter.

Storage & Reheating:
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
- Reheat in the toaster oven or in a frying pan over medium heat.
- French toast can be frozen for a quick and easy breakfast,
