Green Eggs & Ham Cafe | Universal Islands of Adventure

  • Facebook
  • Email

Green Eggs and Ham Cafe has been on my must-try list for quite a while because it's one of those famous little snack stands that always seems to only be open during peak crowds or the busiest times of year.

Located in Seuss Landing at Universal's Islands of Adventure, this little spot is known for its loaded "Totchos" and Who Hash.

So when I FINALLY spotted it open, I knew I had to give it a try.

In this review, I'll go over all of my thoughts along with everything you need to know before deciding if you want to try it for yourself as well.

(Spoiler alert: I probably won't be going back 😭)

Location & Seating:

Green Eggs and Ham Cafe is located near the edge of Seuss Landing in Universal's Islands of Adventure, right along the water and across from The Cat in the Hat ride.

The stand itself is tucked slightly back from the main pathway, but once you spot the bright lime green ham shaped food stand, you'll know you've found it.

As for seating, there are several concrete tables with attached benches located on either side of the stand, including a few overlooking the lagoon, which actually makes for a pretty nice little spot to sit and snack.

The Menu:

On the menu at Green Eggs and Ham Cafe, you'll find a variety of "Totchos" (tater tots piled high with different toppings), including the famous Green Eggs and Ham Tots (more on those in a minute).

There are also usually a few rotating seasonal sweets available. On this particular visit, they were offering:

  • a Caramel Popcorn Cupcake
  • and a Green Eggs and Ham Chocolate Cheesecake

As for drinks, this stand does not serve alcohol, but you can grab sodas and bottled water here.

Pricing is fairly standard for a Universal snack stand, with most Totcho dishes landing somewhere around the price of a quick-service entrée rather than a small snack.

What I ordered:

I figured that if I was finally trying Green Eggs and Ham Cafe, I had to order the famous Green Eggs & Ham Tots, right?

Before we even get into the food itself, I do want to mention one thing: when this stand is open, it is busy.

I waited around 20 minutes in line just to order, and then another 10 minutes or so waiting for my food afterward. Thirty minutes total for a single snack is honestly longer than I'd usually recommend waiting.

Once I finally received my order, the first thing I noticed was how small it was for the price. The entire plate was smaller than my hand, and I have pretty small hands.

Presentation-wise, though, it looked about how I expected: crispy tots topped with green eggs, diced ham, and white cheese sauce.

I sat down at one of the lagoon tables and dug in…and ooof.

Let's start from the bottom and work our way up.

Although the tots looked crispy at first glance, they were actually cold and soggy, almost like they had been sitting out for quite a while. Unfortunately, the green eggs were similar: cold, slightly slimy, and not particularly appetizing texture-wise.

Flavor-wise, the eggs themselves were actually okay. I'm pretty sure they use some kind of pesto to both color and flavor them, which I honestly thought was a cute idea.

The diced ham was very standard, basically the kind of diced ham you'd find at a salad bar.

And then there was the cheese sauce…which was also cold, slimy, and tasted like it had been sitting out for a long time. It also had a tangy flavor that I personally found really unpleasant.

Unfortunately, eating everything together didn't improve the experience.

In total, I took:

  • one tiny bite of each component individually
  • and then one full combined bite

I even offered a bite to my friend Mr. Grump, who immediately recoiled with a look of pure disgust after trying it.

Needless to say…we ended up throwing this one away.

Know Before You Go:

  • Would I recommend this place? Honestly…probably not. But if you do visit, I would personally learn from my mistakes and try one of the other options like the Cheeseburger Totchos or one of the seasonal sweets instead.
  • Limited Hours: Green Eggs and Ham Cafe is not open year-round or even every day. It usually only opens during peak seasons and busier crowd periods.
  • Location:Located in Seuss Landing near the lagoon and across from The Cat in the Hat ride.
  • Seating: There are concrete tables and benches located on either side of the stand.
Ordering:There is no mobile ordering available at this location. Walk-up ordering only.
  • Allergy Information: Allergy information is available online through the Universal menu system.
