Is anyone else obsessed with their air fryer? It's the one kitchen appliance that I use literally every day, because it can cook almost anything, is so much healthier than traditional frying, and is incredibly easy and convenient to use. These Air Fryer Fried Pork Chops are a perfect example. Made with a batter of grated Parmesan and panko breadcrumbs, they are crisp, delicious, and come together in under 30 minutes.

Why You'll Love these Air Fryer Pork Chops:

  • Not hot oil to deal with! Just bread the pork chops and pop them in the air fryer.
  • Ready in under 30 minutes, from start to finish.
  • Just a few simple ingredients. Just boneless pork chops and a few pantry staples for the breading.

Key Ingredients:

  • Boneless Pork Chops: Cut from the pork loin, these chops are lean, tender, and cook quickly in the air fryer.
  • Italian-Style Panko Breadcrumbs: I have used several different kinds of breadcrumbs for this recipe and panko definitely works the best. They are crispier than regular breadcrumbs, and hold together well.
  • Parmesan Cheese: Added to the breadcrumbs to form the breading. It adds flavor, but also helps the crust stay together.
  • Eggs + Milk/Cream: The glue to hold the breading in place.
  • Flour: The first step in the dredge. Flour absorbs surface moisture, helping everything stick.

Dietary Swaps:

  • Dairy-Free: To make dairy-free, swap the cream for a splash of water. Swap grated Parmesan for a dairy-free version such as Follow Your Heart.
  • Gluten-Free: To make gluten-free use gluten-free flour and gluten-free panko breadcrumbs. If you are unable to find panko style, regular gluten-free bread crumbs still work but don't crisp up quite as nicely.

Recipe Variations:

  • Bone-In Chops: This recipe also works with bone-in pork chops. Just add 1-2 minutes per side until the internal temp reaches 145F (62.78C).
  • BBQ Chops: Lightly brush chops with bbq sauce in the last few minutes of cooking.

How to Make Air Fryer Fried Pork Chops:

how to air fryer fried pork chops
  1. If pork chops are thick, use a heavy object or mallet to pound pork chops so they are flattened slightly and no more than 1 inch thick.
  2. Set up your breading station with 3 shallow bowls: Flour & seasonings, whisked eggs & cream, Parmesan & breadcrumbs.
  3. Dredge porkchops in each covering all sides and shaking off any excess.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 400°F. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  5. Add to basket, Spray the top with cooking spray.
  6. Air fry for 4 minutes, turn, spray again, cook 4 more minutes until internal temperatures reach 145f.
  7. Let pork chops rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Tips & Notes:

  • Use Italian-Style Panko Breadcrumbs. I have made this recipe with several types of breadcrumbs, and panko by far hold up the best and have the crispiest texture.
  • Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket. Work in batches if needed.
  • After adding pork chops to air fryer basket, give them a good spray with a neutral cooking oil. This helps them crisp up and give that 'fried' texture.

Storage & Reheating:

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Reheat in the air fryer at 350F for 3-4 minutes.
