Honey Butter Sweet Potato Mash

This simple Honey Butter Sweet Potato Mash is the perfect recipe to add to your autumn side dish list. It’s easy to whip up, buttery, has just the right amount of sweetness.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 lb sweet potatoes about 6 potatoes
  • 4 tbsp salted butter room temperature, plus 1 tbsp for topping
  • 1/2-3/4 cup half & half
  • 3-4 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch salt
  • Chopped Walnuts or Pecans for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Prepare Sweet Potatoes– peel potatoes and cut into chunks. Add potato chunks to a large pot and cover with water. Bring pot to a boil and boil for 20-25 minutes until potatoes are very tender and easily pierced with a fork. Once cooked, drain water.
  • Mash & Mix– add 1/2 cup half & half and room temperature butter to pot with cooked sweet potatoes. Using a potato masher, mash sweet potatoes. Add honey, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt to taste. Continue mashing until all ingredients are well incorporated and desired consistency is reached, adding more cream if needed.
  • Plate & Serve– Add sweet potato mash to a serving plate. Top with chopped walnuts or chopped pecans, an extra pad of butter, and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Notes

For a smoother mash, add mashed sweet potatoes along with remaining ingredients to a stand mixer with a paddle attachment. While on medium-low, pour in a bit of extra cream and let run until smooth, scraping the sides as needed.
